Rick Steves tour vs Odysseys Unlimited tour - Rick Steves Travel Forum Thanks to the OP's post about Odyssey, we've booked yet another trip! Next year we're taking 3 trips with 3 different tour companies--13 days in Scotland, which will dovetail into a 15-day Viking cruise around the British Isles Then in October, we've now booked the 16-day Odyssey tour that goes to Machu Picchu and the Galápagos Islands
Has anybody traveled with Odysseys Unlimited? - Rick Steves Travel Forum Since RS just does Europe, we were looking for a similar tour company for other areas We did the Odyssey’s tour of New Zealand last year and are booked on Odyssey’s tour of Japan this fall We were very impressed with the New Zealand experience on Odyssey’s Similar size and atmosphere and tour members as RS with somewhat nicer hotels
Overseas Adventure Travel VS Odyssey Unlimited, Vietnam I have traveled twice with OAT and RS I have no experience with Odyssey Differences: OAT handles luggage Both have free time and lunches dinners on your own OAT offers air fare Hotels are centrally located and I would say a small step up from RS You are expected to tip the tour leader only OAT tour groups are smaller, 16 max OAT has optional days trips that are an extra cost Can add on pre
Tour Company Comparison - Rick Steves Travel Forum We generally only do “adventure travel” tours, guided hiking with very small grounds (12 people or fewer) Never done a RS tour, or OAT But last year we joined a Road Scholar tour of Puglia because we did not want to rent a car
Comparing RS, Odyssey, and Smithsonian tours of Italy Many organizations hand off their tour programs to a tour travel agencies such as GoNext or Odyssey Small Groups out of Boston I would have no problem using Odyssey but they are a high end group By definition Odyssey tours probably do attract more wealthy people since they are more expensive A few years ago we did a Cuba trip with GoNext
Globus tour company - Rick Steves Travel Forum I am a solo traveler now (widow) and enjoy being part of the group People are friendly and there are usually other solo travelers too If you’re not sure coach travel is for you I would suggest starting out with a shorter trip to test the waters Globus offers regular, small group and off-season tours (called “Escapes”)
Best tour companies where Rick Steves doesnt go (?) I've used several different tour companies and now I travel exclusively with Gate 1 Tours They are better in price and the accommodations are first class I've been on 8 different tours with them - all places that RS doesn't go check them out here is a link: Gate 1 Travel
Greece Odyssey - Rick Steves Travel Forum We are Pensioners 76 and wife 70, want to travel from UK by train to Hersonissus Crete in 2026 around May for around three weeks, flexible on days Want to be near fishing ports, reasonable hotels 3* minimum
Tour company for Asia - Rick Steves Travel Forum While we travel as a couple, we have several friends who travel solo (male and female) and our OAT tours have had many solo female travelers, many of them repeat customers They feel secure, and like that the pesky details like transportation and luggage are handled for them The Vietnam Cambodia Laos trip with OAT is on our radar, for sure
Other tour operators - Rick Steves Travel Forum A few on Odyssey wanted, and got, the American experience in Italy-- or as I called it "The Olive Garden in Italy" On the RS tour, most of my fellow tour members went sightseeing during their free time On Odysses, many went shopping If I was doing it again I would go with Odyssey
