Canvas is open source so you can actually check If you check out the quiz log history you’ll see the two major ‘cheating’ countermeasures are inactivity and and window tab selection It cannot tell that you specifically split screen It can however monitor that you clicked away from the window or to another tab
Quiz Logs on Canvas : r ucf - Reddit The quiz log shouldn’t be used as the only evidence If your Wi-Fi blips or the page falls asleep (which some browsers do), Canvas says you stopped viewing the page (because for all it knows, you did) If they have the quiz log and you in a GroupMe posting answers or something, then it’s a violation, but the log alone shouldn’t be enough That being said, cheating is bad, mmkay?

One of my students appears to have gamed Canvas in a way that seriously confounds me I have busted this student for academic dishonesty once already this semester (gave her a zero for the assignment and warned her that the next offense would trigger an F for the course)
Turn off Canvas “quiz log auditing” : r college - Reddit Empty threat, canvas only tracks when you tab out and how long, since it's open note and all my notes be on google doc, online, hasn't made a difference, now what professors are more worried about is posting test and exam questions on a site like chegg, and 8 students all copy pasting the answer not even trying to put it in their own words

Canvas : r college - Reddit Canvas cannot detect if you are using an extension, at least not to my knowledge However, if something like that is suspected, it can still be investigated I’ve seen people have to come in and retake a quiz in front of the professor to make sure they weren’t cheating because they failed the exam but got all 100s on the quizzes
