However in one of the later novels, the boy Olver claims he managed to win without cheating, the others who hear this assume Olver won because his opponent made a mistake and nobody noticed Did Olver beat the game honestly, or are the adults around him correct in their assumptions?

If I remember correctly Juilin was always mentioned as carrying a staff (like bamboo) none of these appear to have staves so I doubt any of them are meant to be Juilin My immediate guess would be that the unidentified people are varying members of Mats company band of followers at the time, though I stand to be corrected on all points

As Olver was sounding the Horn in Thakan'dar at the time, the Heroes would have been present What I don't like about this theory, is why would Tigraine appear old, as she had died as a relatively young woman, and even those like Hawkwing who would have died older, appear more youthful when the Horn calls them
