  • Hot water for spinning reel line memory - iceshanty. com
I am using P-Line, and not anywhere near line capacity for the reel There isn't much memory, but if soaking the spool in water for a few minutes provides even less memory than currently exists I would take the time to do that in an effort for a better end result
  • Clam Spooler Elite putting on line?
This inline reel Spooler Elite has to be the most difficult reel I have ever tried to put line on period!!! My fumble fingers and bad eyes trying to put 4Lb test line on has me ready to toss the reel in the garbage can
  • How to secure the reel? - iceshanty. com
The reel is held on the handle by two "rubber bands" The package said to apply heat from a hair dryer I did and it did shrink the bands a little, but the reel still moves around
  • Finicky Fooler - iceshanty. com
Hi, my name is Skorpion and I have a gear addiction… I have a set of 5 finicky foolers They are a blast to run early and late season, or anytime it’s not so cold out that the line on your reel is freezing up after a fish or two More and more of these warm ice days every year it seems… running strait fluorocarbon can reduce freeze up
  • Author Topic: Improving the Eagle Claw Inline Reel and a Very . . .
Over all, the eagle claw reel is a very good designed reel, especially for the money, the engineering is there well, maybe it's there to begin with and company just pick up this reel for us ice fishing crowd All the key part of inside the reel is made of metal, gears are made of brass, should be quite durable if the plastic parts don't crack
  • Spinning reel recommendations - iceshanty. com
A reel used to be a lifetime purchase, and a major expense- now we can all have pretty much whatever we want- or at least we sure all have more than we need I think that unless you fish really light line, the drag on most is good enough Heck- It is only the last 10 years that I used a reel at all for ice fishing
  • Long Stem Reel vs Short Stem Reel - iceshanty. com
Re: Long Stem Reel vs Short Stem Reel « Reply #4 on: Dec 16, 2019, 11:05 AM » Long stem gives you more room for your hand, so you can hold it pistol grip style with gloves or big hands without having the bail rotor hit your hand
  • Reel maintenance (how often) - iceshanty. com
Re: Reel maintenance (how often) « Reply #13 on: Dec 04, 2015, 03:09 AM » 1 yr Spray reels w Ardent reel cleaner; a few drops of reel butter on spool shaft, line roller bearing; done
  • Inline reels for ice fishing
My rigs are mostly bait casting reel set ups Anything heavier than 1 16th oz I can let the rig sink pull itself At 1 32nd oz weight it's really slow so often I hand pull the line itself At 1 64th oz or lighter I have to hand pull the line from a spinning reel anyway so the straight line from the bait casting reel actually sinks faster
