Remo vs. Evans heads | [DFO] Drum Forum I agree Remo coatings for batter heads don't seem to have much of a life-span I seldom use coated heads, prefer textured heads for snares so have limited experience To my ears, Evans heads seem to fit a more modern sound that emphasizes attack at the expense of resonance i would rather have the resonance, ergo i use mostly Remo heads

Remo Tunable practice pad | [DFO] Drum Forum I got one of the first-generation Remo tunable pads around 1962 – 1963 Unlike today's version the tension hoop was metal and did not have the raised rim that allows you to practice rim shots It consisted of a composite base upon which sat a metal hoop that provided a bearing edge for the drumhead There was a foam rubber disk inside of the metal hoop; the drumhead fit over this bearing
Remo Ambassador; clear or or not so clear | [DFO] Drum Forum Going through them I noticed to my surprise there was a bunch of Remo clear Ambassador heads that were glass clear, not the milky hazy look These are most likely from the 90´s when I had my Brady kit
Six inch Bongo head? | [DFO] Drum Forum Here are some photos showing the depth of the 6" head versus a 6" Remo Black Dot head It looks like there's roughly a 1 2" difference in the depth of the respective collars - 1-1 4" deep, versus 3 4" deep

Difference in Sound Tone of Snare Resos | [DFO] Drum Forum All the manufacturers have their own standard snare reso heads, Remo Amb, Aquarian Classic Clear, Evans Hazy Have you found much if any difference sonically between each brand ? I used Remos for years and remember switching to Evans briefly and was disappointed, thinking the snare wires
Opinions on Remo Coated P3 tom heads | [DFO] Drum Forum So for Remo I see they have a coated P3 head (Single ply 10mil coated head with 3mm damping ring) It's a bit thinner than the Evans G12, but it has the damping ring that could provide some high end tonal restraint (Remo's are always a bit pitchy IMO) but not choke the small drums like the coated Evans G2's do On paper it looks like the type of head I am looking for
