  • Saber Grind vs. Full Height Flat Grind Which Do You Prefer and Why?
Are there any advantages to one vs the other? From a geometry perspective (not my best subject in school ), it would seem for a blade of the same size, shape and spine thickness (like say a 22" thick ASH-1), that the blade just above the edge would be thicker on a saber grind than on a full height flat grind (but maybe not enough to make a noticeable difference?)
  • Full flat grind -vs- saber grind - BladeForums. com
I prefer a sabre grind I feel they are stronger-period For me, yes, it is that simple Some will say a ffg is more slicey Remember, that is a 1 4" thick blade, so it will NEVER slice quite as good as a sushi knife What i do, if i want more slice-ability from my big thick choppers, is to thin the edge on my cheap a** H Freight belt sander
  • Sabre Knives - BladeForums. com
My Dad found a brand new Sabre(Japan) stockman with pearl celluloid scales in my grandmothers house after she passed away in '77 and gave it to me It held an edge pretty well, especially for an 11 year old,Unfortunately I lost it It definately wasn't worth much money wise but If I still had it I wouldn't trade it for the best custom knife on the market I kick myself for loosing it everytime I
  • Scandi vs. Sabre grind for Bushcraft? - BladeForums. com
I doubt a sabre grind would cause much trouble, i've just never had a knife with a sabre grind so i'm interested in how it compares with the grind i've used most of the time (been testing a flat grind with a secondary convex recently (enzo pk70) I don't have much experience with other grinds except for the scandi scandi-vex
  • American Knife Co. , Germany | BladeForums. com
The blade is marked: American Knife Co Germany on one side The other side says Sabre Solingen with one long tall "S" for both words There is a "131" below Sabre Solingen These is a thin blood groove The knife is missing it's tip, but would be 9 5 8" long with it
  • Sabre Japan 631 Orignal Bowie - BladeForums. com
Found an older sabre Japan original Bowie at a flea market awhile back and am refinishing it Does anyone have any information on the steel used? When I wet formed the sheath some water got in the wrap on the blade and it started rusting in a few spots, no biggie as I want to put a patina on the blade if possible

  • Saber grinds - pros and cons? - BladeForums. com
The sabre grind can be a bunch stronger As you go up from the very edge, the difference in angle (and amount of metal) can be considerable And, of course, the more metal and strength the sabre grind has, the worse it will fare performance-wise versus the full flat grind in deeper cutting
  • Anyone know anything about SABRE USA - BladeForums. com
SABRE was a brand name used for many years by Cole National, a consumer products company located in Cleveland In the late 1960's, Cole also acquired KABAR and owned that brand for many years KABAR knives were Cole's premium brand and SABRE was their low end brand
