  • Talbots Damsel, what a fish! | Reef2Reef
Recently acquired two Talbot's damselfish The LFS wasn't quite sure which species they were but between one savvy employee and myself we made a positive i d What a delightful fish They have staked out a territory in the corner of the tank and don't seem to bother any tankmates They
  • Talbot damsel questions. | Reef2Reef
I had 2 talbots for about 3 years , when they are young they are not very territorial , even when they try the wrasses I had would put them in their space as they got older they staked out opposite ends of the tank ( I am thinking they were both the same sex) The only problem is if there is a sick or disoriented fish going to their area I think they are one of the better damsels in my new
  • Selecting a damsel or Chromis for my tank? | Reef2Reef
So Azures, Talbots, Tracy's, etc As a few stated any fish can become aggressive if the tank isn't set up properly Damsels need a lot of nooks, crannies, and caves to hole up in They will carve out there space and chase some away that try and take it So a mature tank with healthy coral growth is best when keeping lots of damsels
  • Azure damselfish | Reef2Reef
The pictures above are talbots, not azures Confused? I have always found azures to be chickens Sure they will chase off, but swim away first I have 6 currently and most live around each other, but do not swim next to each other Near, but not too close Now my cardinals I have had always picked each other down Threadfins began with 10, after a year had three Those stayed with me almost 9
  • Good group fish | Reef2Reef
Chromis can still be your first choice just look beyond the 'standard' green, there are a multitude of others -Vandervelts (if you are planning a 'quiet tank), Retrofaciatus, Agillis will give you a good starting point for research, there are loads of them waiting to be discovered Fusilier damsels (Lepidozygus tapeinosoma) are excellent, peaceful group fish (if you can find them) and cheap
  • Reef Biotopes List | Reef2Reef
In the background also are Talbots' damsels, azure damsels (Chrysiptera hemicyanea), I believe a branching Porites (Porties cylindrica? This is not common, but available in the hobby and easy to grow apparently), and in the background I believe two montiporae (Montipora capitata and maybe a capricornis), and possibly a Favites
  • Lemon damsel peaceful? | Reef2Reef
ORA claims captive bred lemon damsel are more peaceful Is there any truth to this? What’s your experience with CAPTIVE bred lemon damsels?
  • Having multiple fish of the same species? | Reef2Reef
I also have 2 species of damsels made up of 5 stary damsels and a pair of Talbots damsels none of which bother any of my other fish Talbot's damsels are some of my favorite fish, although they have a reputation for being hard to ship
  • 90 Gallon pros and cons | Reef2Reef
I have a couple clown fish, Talbots damsel, and some inverts that will make the move into a new tank I like yellow tangs and emperor angelfish Mostly looking forward to more coral Look into a longknose hawk fish, one of my favorites will follow me around as I go by the tank Could also look into a coral beauty has great color
  • Anthias alternative | Reef2Reef
I have kept 3 talbots and 3 azures together in my 40 breeder without issues but had plenty of rock work for their own homes and safe spot Damsels will not be open water swimmers though or at least mine are not They tend to stay near rocks, corals, lower part of the tank unless it is feeding time
