Yes, the transaxle needs fluid changes, and is not "lifetime" unless you want to change the fluid out with a new transmission I don't know which transmission you have (CVT, 5 speed manual, or 6 speed automatic), but if you have the CVT the fluid and both filters should be changed every 30-50k miles depending on driving conditions as opposed to 120k in the service manual
