9800X3D thermal paste application? | [H]ard|Forum I decided to try the Noctua 5 dot method conservatively (just barely a 3mm dot x 1, and a 1 5-2mm dot x4) using MX-6 I also put a tiny dab on each cutout CPU block is a Heatkiller IV Pro Nickel Copper, EVGA 3090 under an Optimus block, and 2 420mm rads with NFA-14 IPPCs
Air Cooling a 14900K | [H]ard|Forum Noctua NH-U12A Right now that is the cooler I have now always have to look it up because I forget the number I paid like 120 00 for it but if the 14900K is better silcone "Runs Cooler" than the 14700K I would take a chance on the 14900K
Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 Mini | [H]ard|Forum May be a good option if you can't afford the noctua, it probably performs similarly If it performs similar then it'd have nothing to do with not being able to afford Noctua Paying 2x more on a similar air cooler is a bit silly

High Powered 120mm fans in 2025? - [H]ard|Forum I paid almost that for the Noctua IPPC's I don't think that's too bad of a price I mean, it's definitely at the upper end of the price range for consumer case fans, but these are also premium positioned consumer case fans, so that kind of makes sense
Another Supermicro Quieting Thread | [H]ard|Forum I looked at the Noctua NF-A8 PWM, but judged it to be an excellent and silent fan (I have several) but definately too wimpy The fan's in the quieter versions of the Supermicro fans like the FAN-0074L4 (5000 rpm, 45 dBA, 68 3 CFM) and FAN-0104L4 (2800 RPM, 24 dBA, 32 9 CFM) are made by Sanyo Denki
