Why do we only see VIBGYOR colours from dispersion? I read all the suggested duplicates and they seem to be addressing the relation between primary colours and VIBGYOR But my straightforward question is when so many colours with different wavelengths exist, why only 7 are special And secondly when we say that Newton showed white light is made of 7 colours, what does it mean?

optics - Why is wavelength of violet colour less than wavelength of . . . The wavelength of light of specific colour increases as we go from left to right in the visible colour spectrum: "VIBGYOR" Wavelength of green lies between wavelengths of blue and yellow To me, this makes logical sense because when blue and yellow are mixed, it gives green
optics - Newtons color Disk - Physics Stack Exchange The perception of a picture or a color stays in the human brain for a fraction of a second Newton's color disk is a mechanical device that rotates an array of colors arranged as petals or gradients around an axis and when the disc rotates fast enough the perception of the color changes to white
Why dont we get VIBGYOR instead of white light? Why doesn't the atmosphere disperse white light from the Sun like a prism as air is a dispersive medium? If it really did so, shouldn't we be receving the 7 colours separately instead of one?
The frequency of the white light - Physics Stack Exchange A white light, as we all know, is composed of seven lights VIBGYOR Each of the component lights has distinct frequency ranging from one value to another So, when the photons have wavelength of 600 nm it becomes a yellow light and when it changes to 700 nm it becomes a red light
Difference between water colours and colour combination? In case of light, if all colours of light in the VIBGYOR spectrum are combined, we get white light And if no light is mixed, that's black But in case of water colours, if we mix all colours (violet, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange, Red and some more, obviously not every one in the spectrum), we don't get anything near a white colour
Why does light have only 3 primary colours and why dont then non . . . Red, green and blue are called primary colors because when mixed they give us an impression of what we call white light, where "white" means the impression produced in our brain by a range of frequencies as emitted by a black body at a certain temperature, about 6000K, the temperature of the sun surface
