Lodge Carbon Steel Skillets - Bushcraft USA Forums It doesn't cook quite the same as cast iron, but works just fine once you get used to it A quick check on Amazon shows the 10" Lodge carbon steel skillet at about 25 dollars, which is not bad at all for price
Looks like it is stictly Lodge cast iron for me from now on. Antique cast iron is FAR better for cooking then new cast iron That rough pebbly texture of Lodge pans just rubs me the wrong way Don't like it I just seasoned an antique 10" Griswold skillet from a thrift store (paid $12 50)with local grass-fed beef tallow last week, and it blows my Lodge skillets away
Cabelas Cast Iron? - Bushcraft USA Forums Does anyone have any experience with Cabelas cast iron dutch ovens? Every year I do a couple of trips where I end up cooking in the woods for 6-10 people and I've been wanting a large dutch oven for those occasions In the past I've used a smaller dutch oven with great success, but it was
Cast Iron brands - Bushcraft USA Forums I've seen Lodge and Texsport cast iron skillets and dutch ovens But, online, you can find many other brands I'm assuming that the 2 I listed are good brands What's everyone else's opinion, and maybe some other good brands I'm looking to get a good skillet, dutch oven, and maybe some other items
Found my old lost (now) dusty, dirty cast iron skillet. Best way to . . . My cast iron skillet sort of got buried in the garage for a year It's in good shape No apparent rust Just dust and dirt from a year buried in the back on a shelf Normally, I would clean a regular skillet with soap and water, and it would be good to go But, what should I do with the cast
What size cast iron are you carrying when solo? Be well, enjoy your time in the woods, and whatever size cast iron pan you carry, be sure it is a well-made one that is reasonably thin, like an old Wagner or Griswold, rather than the overly thick imprecise stuff being sold under the Lodge label these days
The Odd Costco Lodge Pan. . . . . | Bushcraft USA Forums Most of Lodges cast skillets and the special logo ones are 10 25” L8SK3 or 12” L10SK3 Costco purchase volume model is to sell at below MSRP as a savings for membership So they likely are having a unique sized product to offer only available to its members Not uncommon with many of the products in the store It wouldn’t surprise me at all if after a few years it gets made by Lodge but
WTB - - 16x10 griddle | Bushcraft USA Forums The problem with selling that sized cast iron griddle is the cost of shipping, I have a vintage cast iron 10"x 16" inch griddle, it weighs as much as one of my 12" Dutch Ovens with the lid, if I were interested in selling it shipped, in the lower 48 for $30 00 I'd be giving it away after shipping cost was covered Mine weighs a bit less than the newer Lodge griddles of the same size, I've used
Experience with cast iron potjies? | Bushcraft USA Forums I'm looking to pick up a good quality cast iron potjie as a wedding gift for my fiance She loves camping, and enjoys cooking for everyone while we are out Sometimes the group would be 3 or 4 people, but once a year the group is 10+ I want a big ole potjie that she can throw onto coals and
