  • Can we or could we? - English Language Learners Stack Exchange
Do both sentences express permission? If I am not mistaken "could" is used when asking for permission If both express permission, then why doesn't "could" work in the first example? Or is the first sentence asking "are we allowed?" In which case "could" isn't used? Can we look words up in a dictionary? Can could I borrow your dictionary, please?
  • questions v relatives - How can we vs. How we can? - English . . .
What is the proper way to ask? How can we achieve this? or How we can archive this? What's the difference between them?
  • I do can. . . - is this valid (even informally)?
Now the general case: We emphasize our confidence by putting do (verb) as in You don't see that ~ Ah, I do see! You don't care ~ I do care! But, the conversation went like: Rhyme, leave it! You cannot get ready in 10 minutes Dad, I do can! Now, grammatically, it could be plain wrong I know this
  • It would be appreciated if you can let us know when can we expect to . . .
It would be appreciated if you can let us know when can we expect to receive the final payment This is “good” English in that it is grammatical (it follows the rules of standard English) and it is comprehensible (the recipient will understand you), but it is prolix (excessively wordy)
  • can we schedule the call to vs can we do the call at?
I am writing a business email and want to schedule a call with the recipient Which of the following is correct, if any: Can we schedule the call to 9 AM? Can we do the call at 9 AM? Can we have
  • We cant do this any more than we can do that - meaning?
We can't just look at the Arabic word vJ^ and, from its shape, for example, determine that it has a natural and obvious meaning any more than we can with its English translation form dog It would be appreciated, if someone please analyse or throw a light on the bold part, so that I could get it better? Excerpt From: George Yule
  • In our end or On our end - English Language Learners Stack Exchange
0 I need help to explain as to why the phrase "in our end" is incorrect (or is it?) as I feel like it should be "on our end" Why is "in our end" incorrect? For example: We are unable to locate your order in our end
  • Can we say do a class? - English Language Learners Stack Exchange
I suspect both pupils and teachers are more likely to take a class But the OP here is obviously happy to have the teacher give a class, and I can't see any advantage in switching from give to do in this context
  • Should I use do it or do so in the following example?
I do agree with the point that only 'do it' should be used in the case of a noun ('the project'), but I think that do it do so are interchangeable in the case of an action ('prepare the project') I need to plan out the month's schedule, but to do it do so I have to find out my work rota
