  • pond yacht plans - The WoodenBoat Forum
Interesting that this post should show up now I picked up a pond yacht this past weekend It belonged to a neighbor who gave it to us "kids" 25 years ago So, on the trip home to visit the grandparents, I retrieved it from the basement and son and I hope to give "Bourtai" new life on Walden Pond Here are some pictures:
  • Tripled planked yacht repair. - The WoodenBoat Forum
Re: Tripled planked yacht repair Raven- You just have to keep cutting back to good wood Dry is best for epoxy, of course I just finished rebuilding the stern of a large cold molded boat, (4 layers: 3 diagonal 3 8" then 3 4" fore and aft all in epoxy
  • R Boat Pirate Pond Yacht - The WoodenBoat Forum
Originaly the pond yacht model compition of the R boat were used to raise funds to sent the boat back to the R Boat Nationals at Larchmont NY back in the mid twenties With West Coast skipper Matt Walsh at the helm "Pirate" won the R Nationals that year and brought the trophy back to the West Coast
  • antique pond yacht - The WoodenBoat Forum
Re: antique pond yacht By the way Looks very nice Here at Redd's Pond there is lots of model boat sailing The Commodore (of the model yacht club) is an antique dealer who deals in boat models among other things He had four antique pond models in a recent auction that made $1000 apiece, which he said was less than half what they should have
  • pond yacht plans - The WoodenBoat Forum
I'm still holding out for a recommendation, even though I sent for info from several sources Like a full size boat, a set of plans does not guarantee success, and I am looking for a pond yacht that for sure works meanwhile the paper kayak continues to heal, and the new skiff is ready to "plank" (1 piece plywood sides, cross planked bottom)
  • John Fords Araner. . . - The WoodenBoat Forum
Ford continued to use the yacht until her rising operating expenses prompted him to sell her circa 1971 Acquired by Fran M Dimond, of Honolulu, the craft retained her name into 1974, when she was bought by the San Marino Travel Service Still homeported at Honolulu, she was given back her original name, Faith in, or about, 1975
  • The Lady yacht Club - men only - wooden boats only
This proved such a success that The "Lady" Yacht Club was formed in 1945 The name was derived from the yachts that were first sailed "Perfect Lady"1-8 This was increased to ten boats and crews with a skipper, mate and 3 crew members to each crew who normally sailed together during their membership of the club
  • The Lawton Tender 10ft - The WoodenBoat Forum
This is undoubtably the source of the lines that the Newfound strip version is based on In that same book is a similar 12' yacht tender from Lawleys, another bygone builder of fine craft Again, this is a lapstrake boat, but if you are comfortable building a stripper boat with just a lines plan (with offsets), then this may be all you need Bob
  • Steam Yachts from 100 years ago. - The WoodenBoat Forum
Looking at steam yacht lines plans and GA drawings in Dixon Kemp I am struck by how very impractical they were In the days of coal fired Scotch boilers most of the hull was taken up with boiler room, engine room, coal bunkers and crew accomodation
